Hi, I'm Sid.
PhD candidate, software engineer, and reluctant philosopher.
A little about me
I'm a doctoral researcher at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) / Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), investigating the effectiveness of a drug-repurposing AI co-scientist in the context of heritable thoracic aortic diseases (HTADs). My work sits between bioinformatics, machine learning, and AI engineering with LLMs.
Before starting my PhD, I've worked at companies like Goldman Sachs, Nosto, and Altair (now acquired by Siemens) where I built and led a variety of projects focused on backend development, distributed systems, high-performance computing applications and cloud-native architectures. I specialise in Java and Python, with deep experience in Spring Boot, microservices, event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), relational and non-relational databases, and AWS.
Outside of work, I enjoy music, chess, reading books, and exploring topics around philosophy and linguistics. Recently, I've also been getting into birdwatching. I'm always eager to learn, experiment with new ideas, and collaborate on interesting projects.
